Glenbawn Woods, MarlfieldJoin the South Tipperary Tourism Company tomorrow on an easy guided walk at Marlfield, on the outskirts of Clonmel, in south Tipperary. The walk – Rock Loop, one of a series of looped walks in Glenbawn Woods – is around 5km and should take about two hours. Meeting at 1.30pm in Marlfield, the starting point is a short distance west of the village. Trekking shoes, raingear, snack and fluids are recommended. Details: Con Ryan, 087-0556465.

Scottish meetMountaineering Ireland's Scottish Winter Meet takes place from February 18th-25th. The event is based at Inchree Centre in the Onich, between Fort William and Glen Coe in the Western Highlands. There will be three courses: basic winter skills; winter mountaineering; and winter climbing. Wicklow warningFollowing recent floods, the bridge over the Dargle River above Powerscourt Waterfall has been damaged. Walkers on the Wicklow Way should use an alternative route to access Djouce.

Also, two of the footbridges along St Kevin’s Way have been washed away and walkers are advised to select an alternative route. Finally, deer culling is taking place at Ballinastoe Wood on weekdays between 2am and 7am until December 21st. All trails are out of bounds at these times.
